Community Contributions – Blog Posts and Review (40%)
Requirements
This assignment is worth 40% of your final grade. You must complete all of the five assigned blog posts with comments on the posts of your peers (at least one-two for each blog) and submit your best post for grading purposes (25%). Along with your learning pod/group you will also complete a peer review of another group’s Interactive Learning Resource Draft, which will be part of this grade (15%).
Blog Posts
Throughout the course, you will be contributing to our community on your own blogs by responding to blog prompts provided by the course instructors. You are encouraged to initiate your own posts in response to the materials and resources shared throughout the course, as well as linking out to materials and literature to support your thinking.
In addition to authoring blog posts, you will be expected to contribute to the edci335 community by commenting on the posts of your peers. Review the blog feed for your section, select posts of interest and provide feedback or ask questions of other authors. Set a goal for yourself to interact with at least two other bloggers after a posted assignment. You should find that these interactions lead to increased traffic on your own blog, which will provide opportunities to have your thinking supported, questions to answer, and possibly new connections made.
We recommend that you comment on others’ posts by creating a new post on your own site and including a link to the post you are commenting on. This will create a ‘trackback’ on the original post, which is just like a comment. Make sure you check the comments on your own site because you will have to approve them before they are visible. You will see a notification in the side menu of WordPress when you have comments that need to be approved.
Suggested Prompts for Comments
Please remember that these blogs are shared publicly, as are your comments. It is important to use your comments as a way to provide supportive, constructive feedback, to initiate a conversation, or share connections. Keep your language positive, offer suggestions, and focus on the content of the blog post.

Assessment of Community Contributions
Community contribution is worth 40% of your final grade and will be assessed as follows:
- You must complete five (5) posts throughout the course.
- Four of your posts are based on the prompts and will be reviewed with your learning pod to allow you to refine your thinking and clarify any misconceptions.
- You will choose one (1) of those four (4) posts to be assessed by your instructor, and that assessment will be worth 25% of your final grade.
- Your fifth post will be a review of another group’s Interactive Learning Resource and will be worth 15% of your final grade.
