I, like many, have been hit by a wave of hanger (being angry because I’m so hungry) on many a trip. Being able to sense the looming hunger and speed-eat a granola bar is a skill, but being able to proactively plan out your meals (where/when) is something technology is great at helping with.
Blogs are one way to find great local recommendations. Continuing with my Mexico trip planning, I found this Ultimate Guide To Eating In Sayulita 2025 from Where and Wander’s blog. I really enjoy this blog as it features the google maps locations of the restaurants it mentions. Sometimes in other countries it is hard to find exact addresses for places, so having the google maps location helps you to be able to save it in your app.
And that brings me to my next point. Google Maps has probably become one of my favourite sources to find places to eat. You are able to zoom in on a place and look at all of the restaurants (and other businesses) within the area, along with seeing their ratings, their menus, and any reviews. One of the best features is that you can save locations ahead of time. When planning a trip, you can look at the area you’re going to and save spots you may want to eat at when you get there. This means that when the hanger starts to creep in, you can open your google maps and choose one of the places that you know you have already investigated. If you are in a place with no service, you can also download the area map onto your device so you can still access it and the locations you have saved.
