This week I’m trying vlogging! Due to file size, I’ve separated my rant into four parts. Enjoy!

Trimmed Pieces

The first photo was an attempt at a foot… it doesn’t look much like a foot AND the bottom is very thin and might not make it in the kiln… I gave up on making feet on any of the other pieces… they look a little better, but the bases are still thin, and there are some gashes I wasn’t able to fix.

These are before and after trimming photos. You can see all the excess clay on the bottoms of the pieces on the left hand side, and the smooth finish on the right. It’s also worth noting that I had made the smaller mug in the first class, and the taller one in the second class. It’s really cool to see my improvement! Walls are taller, the shape is more uniform, pretty cool! (Fingers crossed that make it through the kiln!)
Final Thoughts
Now that I’ve reflected on the class, and am looking at the photos of my trimmed pieces. I didn’t do as bad as I felt I did. My mugs look smooth and finished, the foot isn’t that bad. As for the thickness of the pieces, I reckon that will just come with time and practice.
