Hi everyone,

I hope you are all doing well and enjoying these two short weeks in early October. The weather has been lovely, so I hope you are getting outside for some autumn air.

Three things to note, although we are not getting together this week or next Monday due to the holidays.

  • Most importantly, remember that we need to meet to have your first assessment meeting for the course. Only about 1/3 of you have booked or already had their meeting with me, so please do not delay! The meeting is an opportunity for us to connect one to one, address any questions, and provide some feedback on your portfolio so far. I will pop the meeting booking link into Mattermost. These are to be completed by October 13th!
  • There are no class reflections to complete for the weeks of Oct 2 and Oct 9. You should continue documenting your inquiry project over this time.
  • Since you have groups formed for the presentation, I also encourage you to meet with those group members to share thoughts about the course so far and share your portfolio for peer review and inspiring ideas. You may also start planning for the presentation if you wish, but we have time yet. Note that you can easily create a group chat using Mattermost and know that you can also create Zoom sessions with one another using your UVic accounts. It is essential to know how to use Zoom (or a similar program) and be able to host a session when needed to connect with each other, future learners, parents, or teachers.

You will be back in the 336 Lab on October 16th with Rich McCue who will do a session on audio and video creation and editing processes.

Enjoy the long weekend ahead.
