Your blog and other social media will play an important role in the learning for this course and will act as a communication tool between you and your instructor, as well as other course participants, and the open learning community.
Critical Reflection:
Purpose
- Develop digital literacy and reflective practice through multimedia documentation.
- Support ISTE “Learner” and “Collaborator” competencies by leveraging technology to share resources and improve practice.
Task
- Author daily blog posts throughout the course term.
- Summarize the specific technologies, pedagogies, or topics addressed in each session.
- Conduct a critical reflection analyzing benefits, drawbacks, age appropriateness, privacy, security, equity, and accessibility.
- Integrate the thoughts of peers or solicit feedback from prospective readers within the post.
- Execute a multimedia strategy by combining text with at least one other format, such as a screencast, podcast, video, sketchnote, or infographic.
- Apply social writing strategies, including hyperlinks to consulted resources and other blog posts.
Criteria for Success
- Each of the assigned posts is valued at 6% of the final grade, totaling 66%.
- Success is defined by meeting all five criteria of the single-point rubric:
- Concise Summary: Clear overview of the technological or pedagogical topic.
- Critical Reflection: Demonstration of deep analysis across multiple lenses (e.g., privacy, equity).
- Social Integration: Evidence of engaging with the wider learning community or seeking feedback.
- Multimedia Enrichment: Use of non-text media to increase engagement and clarity.
- Social Writing: Effective use of hyperlinks and trackbacks to contextualize the work.
