- Technology Enhances Inclusionby aubriehunter on March 28, 2025 at 5:00 pm
Below is a podcast from my Ed Tech group, which includes Brooklyn, Charlotte, Erica, and myself. We decided to take a deep dive into accessibility tools that are readily available for students and educators, while also discussing the dangers of relying on these technologies too much. Enjoy!
- Out Like a Lightby aubriehunter on March 24, 2025 at 8:28 pm
Got ya! We sadly did not win our 1/4 final game. But honestly, that is okay. Nobody expected us to win a single game this whole season, and we finished somewhere in the top 8! We were the underdogs for sure… in the 1/4 final game we were playing a team of men who are
- Outdoor Technologyby aubriehunter on March 24, 2025 at 8:20 pm
Traditionally, when I think about outdoor education and nature literacy, I think of ways for people to unplug from technology, connect with nature, and their from the environment around them. I don’t think I have ever intentionally used technology to enhance outdoor learning. Don’t get me wrong, I did lots of geocaching back in my
- Play La Bamba, Baby!by aubriehunter on March 17, 2025 at 8:39 pm
Well, well, well, the Blackboard Ballers are absolutely KILLING the competition! With another win in the column, we are off to playoffs. Play La Bamba, baby! I had so much fun in this game because it was finally light outside when we played, but is was unusually cold. My favourite part of this game was
- BCEd Accessby aubriehunter on March 17, 2025 at 8:24 pm
In class, we had guest lecturers come talk to us from BCEd Access Society. Before this class, I had not heard of this support group, but I think the work that they do and the support they provide is really cool. As pre-service teachers, we often hear about the importance of inclusion, but are typically
- Beat the Chiefs to a Three-Peat!by aubriehunter on March 10, 2025 at 9:16 pm
That’s right ladies and gentleman! Someone call ESPN and TSN cause the Blackboard Ballers have done what once was thought impossible, beating the Kansas City Chiefs, and having a three-peat!!! Maybe now, Taylor Swift can write songs about us, instead of Travis, since we beat him to the victory lap. WE KNOW HOW TO BALL.
- AI: Friend or Competitor?by aubriehunter on March 10, 2025 at 8:27 pm
In this week’s class, we had a lengthy discussion about what AI is, what it is capable of, and where it is headed. I feel like this is a conversation that we have had in most of our classes this year in the Elementary PDP program. Which, makes sense, as it is a resource (and
- Edcampby aubriehunter on March 4, 2025 at 1:25 am
On Friday, we discussed and explored Edcamp. The idea of Edcamp was new to me, but I was very intrigued by the idea of it. The reason I used the photo above is because it is kind of what I think partcipating in Edcamp feels like: there is no real leader, it is a group
- Zoom Zoomby aubriehunter on March 3, 2025 at 10:00 pm
My biggest takeaway from my first year of post-secondary education being held virtually back in 2020, was that Zoom is not just a catchy ending to a Mazda commercial… it is an educational platform. I, like probably most students who navigated higher education via Zoom, have a love/hate relationships with the platform. Zoom is great
- Is This… A… STREAK?!by aubriehunter on March 3, 2025 at 9:45 pm
Congrats, you stay tuned, and guess what? It paid off, because the Blackboard Ballers placed another check in the W category! Paul Rudd sums it up best: In all seriousness, I have been having a lot of fun with my friends. There really isn’t a better group of people to work with and learn from
- A Win IS A Winby aubriehunter on February 24, 2025 at 9:05 pm
The snow may have stopped us earlier this month, but NOTHING could stop our team from WINNING on February 10th!!!! Securing this first win was really good for the morale of our team, and is a great way to show our team’s continuous progress and enjoyment of spending even more time together… because 6 hours
- Ms. Hollywoodby aubriehunter on February 10, 2025 at 10:12 pm
On Friday, we had Rick McCue come in as a guest speaker from the UVic Libraries to discuss video and audio editing with out class. To be honest, as a 23-year-old who’s job is to create outreach content, and who has had multiple alternative media assignments, what Rick talked about was mostly information I already
- Snow Day, Movie Dayby aubriehunter on February 10, 2025 at 9:52 pm
*Sigh* I moved away from Alberta to avoid the two seasons of construction and snow. For some reason, it has followed me to Victoria! Because of this, our soccer game was cancelled. Therefore, I was not able to practice my soccer skills with my team. But have no fear, I was still engaged with soccer!
- A Canva Queenby aubriehunter on February 4, 2025 at 4:16 am
In our last class we walked through multiple services and programs that can be used in educational settings to create fun images, presentations, and even work sheets for students. As someone who is completing an education degree, Canva quickly became one of my best friends when I started this program. Like most relationships, there were
- An [Almost] Win Is A Win!by aubriehunter on February 3, 2025 at 7:27 pm
On Monday, we had our second soccer game of the season. There were many improvements from our first game! I now knew where I was on the field and what that meant my role was (at least in the context of my team). I strongly to prefer being the right winger. Unsuprisingly to those that
- Nowhere But Upby aubriehunter on January 27, 2025 at 1:21 am
On Monday, the Blackboard Ballers had our first game as a team; it was also probably the first time I’ve kicked a soccer ball since junior high. I had no idea what to expect from this soccer game, and at the start I truly felt like the little kid in the red vest pictured above
- AI: Artificial Intelligence Or Artificial Insecurity?by aubriehunter on January 27, 2025 at 12:56 am
There has been an emerging trend in our education classes, regardless of course subject matter, to have conversation about “the big ba- no, the coolest tool… but also the scariest invention”, aka Artificial Intelligence (AI). On Friday, our class had a guest speaker come in and talk to us about AI and internet safety that
- Fine Line of Reusing & Stealingby aubriehunter on January 20, 2025 at 10:50 pm
Calling all [team sport] athletes: we all can relate to the moment where, your team did it! You finally made it to the gold medal game of the biggest tournament of the season. There’s a minute left and the game is tied. You make a pass of the century, and your teammate scores the game
- Hiker Turned Soccer Playerby aubriehunter on January 20, 2025 at 9:31 pm
What Am I Inquiring Into? For my free inquiry project I have decided that this is a great opportunity to reflect on, and make the most of the soccer journey I am taking with some of my cohort. Secret time: I have always disliked soccer, but, I have a intense FOMO. What is My Motivation?
- Blog Post #4 EDCI 335: Learning Activity Designby charliemccullough on April 3, 2024 at 11:35 pm
The learning activity that my group chose to do was an introduction to volleyball. By starting with the basics, it helps students be able to build the fundamental skills to eventually be able to participate in full gameplay. Essentially it involves the students getting divided into teams of 6 and catching and passing the ball
- Blog Post #3 EDCI 335: Best-Structured Learning Experienceby charliemccullough on April 3, 2024 at 9:01 pm
One of my best-structured learning experiences is Anatomy and Physiology 12. I found this class to be incredibly beneficial because it was mainly hands-on learning with a lot of labs. Getting to conduct these experiments in person using real biological material was such a cool experience. What made it memorable and worth writing about? Two
- My Final Post in EDCI 335 and Thoughtsby leilakoz on April 3, 2024 at 7:53 pm
As I approach the end of this semester, I’m feeling a mix of relief and sadness. It’s a bittersweet farewell to a period filled with profound learning experiences. Completing my fourth year of undergraduate studies feels amazing, and I am... Continue Reading →
- Blog Post 4: French 12 –online vs. classroom settingby athenamarkopoulos on April 2, 2024 at 6:28 pm
I do not have any experiences teaching online. However, in high school before the COVID-19 pandemic forced everyone to quickly transition to online learning, I was in an online French 12 course. I personally perceive my experience in this course differently compared to course at the end of high school and university that were online.
- Blog Post 3: Theories (behaviourism & Cognitivism)by athenamarkopoulos on March 30, 2024 at 1:01 am
Behaviourism is a commonly used learning theory and has been around since the 1920s. Behaviourist psychology aims to model the study of human behaviour and intertwines views with physical sciences. Therefore, behaviour, is considered something that humans can directly observe (Bates, 2019). Behaviourism is a common learning theory that is used when working with neurodivergent
- Post #2 EDCI 335: Face-to-face vs online learning environmentsby charliemccullough on March 29, 2024 at 6:28 pm
What is only possible when face-to-face? What is only possible when online? What are the shared elements from both a face-to-face and online learning experience that create meaningful learning? A shared element from both face-to-face and online learning experiences that create meaningful learning is technology. Multimedia makes learning more rich and more accessible for everyone.
