It was good to see you all on Tuesday and thank you for your engagement with the readings, discussion, and activities during the Zoom session. You can always access the shared documents we use in our session in Mattermost or altogether on the Social Spaces page here on the website (the password for access is in the syllabus).
I added a course schedule that will track our weekly discussion topics and activities. This will be updated as we go, and I will alert you to any major changes. As discussed, we will take a break on Tuesday October 31 so that you can attend to your own or the little ones that come to your door that evening.
I have requested that Justin from our library join the Mattermost group so that you can direct any questions his way. Once he has arrived, I will introduce him in our EDCI 570/571 channel so that you can say hello. You can also always seek assistance via the UVic library, they offer multiple ways to engage and have a variety of self-help resources available on demand.
Couple things to do before next week
- Please review the Considering Privacy in Online Spaces resource on our website.
- Please also review the BC Digital Literacy Framework (If you are out of province, explore resources from your Ministry of Education regarding Digital Literacy, if available)
- If you have any questions or want to share resources or ideas, please post to our private EDCI 570/571 Mattermost Channel
- I am hoping that by next week we will the topics and pairs identified in the ‘Topic Brainstorm for 570 Presentation’ google doc. The document can be found in Mattermost or on the Social Spaces page on our website. Remember this presentation does not have to be your MEd project interest but is a chance to dip into the research, create a presentation, and present the findings as a team.
- If you are having trouble with your WordPress portfolio, Zotero, or anything else related to the course, please do reach out. I am happy to have a one-to-one meeting with you on demand to resolve any issues.
Readings for Next Week
I am not assigning any academic readings this week. I want you to start diving into the literature related to your presentation topic. So, this is an opportunity to practice the library search techniques that you learned last Thursday and seek out and identify literature that might be useful in your presentation.
