Description: Part of the goal of this module is to look at the history and development of distributed and open learning.
For this activity, you will choose an Ed Tech or Open Learning development or technology and summarise it.
You may either choose a chapter from Weller’s 25 Years of Ed Tech OR choose another innovation/technology/tool that interests you.
You will research the development and reflect on the implication for distributed or networked learning. Your reflection can be written or recorded, but should include:
- a short summary of the chapter or innovation that you selected including what it is, how it developed, how it has been used in education, and any other key information needed to understand it
- a discussion on how the development or innovation impacted learning when it first emerged
- a discussion on whether you believe that the development or innovation had a long term impact on online learning; is it still impactful today?
- a reflection on your own experiences with the development or innovation (if any) and how you feel it works as a learning technology
Post your innovation to the Ed Tech Timeline.
In your learning portfolio, include either a link to your post OR a copy of the text.
Make sure to include a short self-reflection on why you chose this activity, how it aligned with your learning goals, and what you learned from completing this activity.
