Description: In your WordPress blog or another tool of your choose, you will complete activities as you moved through the course content. You should complete a minimum of 1 entry for each topic in the course, but are welcome to respond to as many of the prompts as interest you.

For each entry you complete, you will write a brief paragraph explaining why you selected that activity and how it aligned with your personal learning goals for the course, and reflecting on the learning that you did (or didn’t do!) by responding to the prompt.

You will submit your portfolio in the middle of the course and at the end of the course.

Module 1 Learning Portfolio Prompts

What is an ePortfolio?

A Learning Portfolio, or an ePortfolio, is a digital collection of student work, including written work, media (audio or video), artwork, or other work created by a student in their learning. Our Learning Portfolios will also include reflections on learning, which may be written or recorded.

Where can you host an ePortfolio?

The tool or platform is not as important as the content, and is generally up to the students’ discretion. You will want to select a platform that is able to host the type of content you intend to compile.

For our course, here are some examples of tools you can use for your ePortfolio:

WordPress is a blogging platform. All students are able to create a WordPress blog on the OpenETC. Here are instructions on how to create your WordPress Blog. (https://edtechuvic.ca/edci339/2020/05/03/creating-a-blog-on-the-openetc/)

Padlet is a simple tool for collecting posts. It is often used for collaborative work, but is very effective for collection your own media and writing. You can sign up for Padlet for free.

Notion is another great tool for collecting and storing information. You can create a notion site and share it for free.

A simple Google Doc or Google Slides (or other Cloud-Based document) works great for a portfolio as well. To add media, you can embed video files or simple add links. You can sign up for a Google Account for free.

You are free to use any other tool that you would like, as long as you are able to share it with your instructor. If you have any questions, please email me or post to Mattermost.
