One of the major themes of this module has been the issue of privacy.
For this activity, you will focus on understanding the idea of privacy in education.
Consider the following questions:
- What expectation of privacy should students have?
- When is it acceptable or appropriate for institutions or instructors to engage in actions or to use tools that may challenge student privacy?
Now, do a little research and find and read the privacy policies of the University of Victoria. You may focus generally on student privacy or look at the policies around a specific tool. You may need to do a little digging!
- How easy to find, access and understand were the privacy policies that you uncovered?
- Before searching for them, were you aware of these policies?
- Did you find anything surprising or concerning within the policies?
Post your findings in your Learning Portfolio. Make sure to also include a short self-reflection on why you chose this activity, how it aligned with your learning goals, and what you learned.
