tl;dr

We are in our final week of learning new theories! You have the last substantive post due this week and then the following week your first application of the theories are due: Multimedia Critique. I highly recommend starting this assignment now!

Substantive Post #3: Accessibility & Universal Design for Learning

Due Thurs, Jan 29

You are tasked with creating your first theory-based substantive post. The post should be approximately 500 words that outlines your discoveries and reflections. The topic of this substantive post is on theories of multimedia learning and the weekly readings will support it.

Be sure to explore the use of multimedia: include images, videos, podcasts, interactive features. And be sure to introduce them in a way that is seamless with the text.

Multimedia Critique

Develop a robust multimedia assessment rubric and use it to evaluate the quality of existing educational resources. This exercise will help you bridge the gap between abstract theory and practical design. I highly recommend starting this in week four as it is a larger assignment than the substantive posts and is worth 15% of your final mark!

Learner Pathways Survey

Please complete this ~5 min survey after you’ve created your blog. This will provide me with all the information I need to help to support you in this course (e.g., your privacy preferences, to get your blog URL, your Mattermost username, etc.)

Group Signup

Please take a moment to signup for a group. For our final assignment: Multimedia Challenge: OERs, you’ll be working in groups of three. I would also like you to meet with your group every 1-2 weeks to connect over this class: offer support, share resources, discuss. These group meetings should being within the next two weeks. I recommend learning about and reaching out to classmates via the Mattermost chat to find people with similar interests and project ideas. Please use the form here to sign up with your group.

Hope you have a great week! All the best,
