Hi all,
Catching up after falling sick for the last few days. While we had Cable Green present last week, I’m moving that section to this week for sharing the recording. Hopefully most of you have gotten your blog set up and your first blog post made. You can submit your blog posts as per a suggested schedule posted on BrightSpace under Assignments. These are not fixed deadlines where you lose submission access, but we mean to be flexible around your schedule. Keep on pace though so this course does not run away from you. I’ll update this post across the week, but you can get started with these tasks:
- Watch talk with Cable Green (see bio) on Open Licensing and Open Educational Resources (and I encourage you to consider watching these videos as a watch party with your pod – and one of you in Zoom choosing Share content/options/with computer sound). He speaks directly to computer science folk in this talk as well, so watch for that easter egg for those of you in computer science.
- If you have not already, set up a weekly meeting time with your pod. Even if you do not do your assignment 1 together, you should meet to peer-review each other’s blog posts.
- Submit your inquiry topic on BrightSpace Assignments for your lab instructor to review and approve
- Submit your first blog post URL on BrightSpace Assignments for your lab instructor to document as complete, then share this post with your pod members for peer review. This can happen when you meet.
- Watch talk with Dr. Inba Kehoe of UVic Libraries (Scholarly Communications Librarian and Communications Officer) on Copyright, Fair Dealing, and Licenses
