You have two ways to participate in our POP community: synchronously or asynchronously. Synchronously means live, or occurring at the same time, like a phone call or video call or an in-person chat. Asynchronously means happening not at the same time, like communicating via letters, email, text chat, or blog posts and commenting.

Video Sessions (Weekly Drop-in)

You may join our synchronous sessions as a participant or guest. Typically, we will keep these sessions loose for conversation. We may offer these on themes, but we may also break out the video session into different rooms on different topics that arise. That’s why there will be more than one of the hosts present. Check out our schedule to learn more about dates and topics planned. To participate, please contact one of the hosts for the video link information or for the password to the Video link page on this site.

Microsoft Teams (Messaging/Forums)

There is a channel in Microsoft Teams hosted by LTSI to discuss Online Teaching and Learning. You can access the Teams login information on our Social Spaces page (contact one of the hosts for the password to access). Within this campus-wide community, we have created a private forum for Faculty of Education members.

Join the UVic Online Learning & Teaching Community to connect with other faculty and instructors from across the university. The community is a Microsoft Teams space for peer discussion about online learning and teaching. Start by signing up for your UVic Office 365 account. When your account is active, send us a request to join the community! We have provided a direct link to join this Teams space on our private Social Spaces page as well.

Our Faculty of Education Online Mentoring Team is also all on Microsoft Teams as individuals, so you can reach out and direct message us anytime with a question or to schedule a 1-1 meeting via video.

Blog Posts (Helpful Resources)

Under the Blog menu on this website, we will post resources that you might find helpful as you traverse online teaching. Feel free to request topics as well.

Open Mic to Feature Guests (Sharing Practice)

You may also be interested in writing up your tips or tricks or knowledge regarding online learning or teaching. We will put it up as a blog post under our “Open Mic” section of the blog. You are welcome to share more than once, too! This is open for novices or experienced instructors or learners alike!
