In the final assignment you apply the principles of multimedia learning into the design of your own multimedia resource. The resource should explain a single, threshold concept (e.g., how photosynthesis works, the difference between correlation and causation, basic git commands, how to fix a lawnmower). The goal of the final project is to demonstrate your ability to apply the theory and principles of multimedia learning directly to design decisions.

You may present this in any form as long as it stands alone as a multimedia learning resource. This could be a text and image based how-to walkthrough, an instructional video, interactive graphic, or a combination of multimedia resources.

The artifact should be presented in an individual post on your WordPress site using the category “Assignment 3”.

In addition to the learning artifact, provide a 500-word design memo explaining the design rationale and explicitly mapping your design choices to the Multimedia Principles that apply.

  • A thoughtfully designed multimedia artifact that addresses a threshold concept in a concrete way
  • The design memo clearly expresses the scope and purpose of the multimedia
  • Grounded in high-quality research
  • Clearly and consistently presented
  • Correctly uses APA 7th Edition style throughout, including citations and references
