Assignment 1: Deeper Dive Inquiry Project
Final Summative Product & Documentation of the Learning Process
You (individually or in pairs, trios, or a pod of 4) will be expected to conduct a deeper inquiry into a research topic (e.g., a specific aspect of digital health, digital surveillance, etc.) and/or developing a skill with a software new to you (e.g., advanced video editing skills, creating a Pressbooks, learning AI tools, or software that specifically pertains to your target workplace sector such as GitHub, SharePoint, Excel, etc.). The plan for your summative project should be pre-approved by your lab instructor and should advance your skills. This pre-approval will also consider safety/security before selecting any new software for an inquiry. All work must meet accessibility standards covered in the course. You will complete two parts:
1) In a group of 4 (although requests for individual, pair, and trio work will be accommodated), you will create a summary resource to showcase your learning (a product documenting your learning). This will be due in the last week of classes. The overview or summary of your learning can take a variety of formats, such as a Zoom presentation (with recording), a screen capture recording, a Pressbook publication, a detailed blog post, etc. All should have claims supported by academic references.
2) Individually, you are expected to describe your learning process through regular blog posts documenting your learning, including sharing the resources you curated/learned from or created. Weekly blog posts completed individually should start when your blog is launched. A minimum of 4 detailed posts are required to be submitted as they are posted and paced throughout the term. These should meet the guidelines provided to you. You are encouraged to demonstrate multimedia development as part of these reflections. Be creative and experiment with documenting your learning in novel ways. You are expected to peer-review these posts in your pod. You will design a learning plan for yourself and carry out weekly task analysis and curating and reporting of progress. Please consult inquiry tools found on the PSII website to assist you. The purpose of this assignment is to learn how to use technology throughout the learning process, from finding resources and people, to documenting, curating, and reflecting on your learning.
