Dr. Francis Pelton is a faculty member in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the area of Mathematics Education. She primarily teaches pedagogy courses in Mathematics for both elementary and secondary teacher candidates as well as graduate courses in Educational Research. Her research interests span both mathematics and educational technology, with current projects focusing on cross-curricular pedagogical strategies for teaching STEM subjects, principled app design to support learning, and increasing student understanding by integrating apps into lessons. She and her husband have co-developed several apps (primarily iOS) to support students in consolidating and mastering specific mathematics content at the elementary and middle school level. These apps are free on the Apple Apps store under the name MathTappers.
