These are examples of edu-jargon where the original theory dissipates into a variety of sub topics with very loose ties to the original meaning. The language for fixed and growth mindset is still used regularly amongst my colleagues, and can often be used as a bit of prod when someone appears to be \u201cstuck\u201d or inflexible. They are advised to try \u201chaving a growth mindset\u201d.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">There are <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/biglifejournal.com\/blogs\/blog\/growth-mindset-resources\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">countless resources<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> available for parents and educators to support children in developing their growth mindset. Walk through any elementary school and there is good chance you will see at least one bulletin board encouraging a growth mindset.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Read the following article to understand how this neuromyth gained acclaim in the field of education:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedaily.com\/releases\/2018\/05\/180522114523.htm#:~:text=Study%20finds%20popular%20'growth%20mindset'%20educational,interventions%20aren't%20very%20effective&amp;text=A%20new%20study%20found%20that,for%20students%20in%20most%20circumstances.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Study finds that popular &#8220;growth mindset&#8221; educational interventions aren&#8217;t very effective<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">What\u2019s interesting about this neuromyth is that the author of book is open to the criticism that her work has received.\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ted.com\/talks\/carol_dweck_the_power_of_believing_that_you_can_improve\/discussion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Carol Dweck<\/a>, author of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/40745.Mindset\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mindset: The New Psychology of Success<\/a>, has been open about the debate surrounding her assertions about fixed\/growth mindsets. She acknowledges these concerns in the following article:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mindsetscholarsnetwork.org\/growth-mindset-firm-foundation-still-building-house\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Growth mindset is on a firm foundation, but we&#8217;re still building the house<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Learners who see the potential for success are more likely to persevere when they encounter challenges, as we learned in <a href=\"https:\/\/edtechuvic.ca\/edci565\/category\/designing-for-inclusion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Design for Inclusion<\/a>.
