Since not all of us have Google accounts or are interested in creating them, you can make use of anonymous editing which allows anyone with a link to the document to edit. Your group will need at least one member to have a Google account in order to create a document. Here is a quick tutorial on how to set this up.<\/p>\n<p>1. Start by creating a document using Google Drive. You can create a document, spreadsheet or presentation and the steps to follow are the same. Consider setting up your document in advance so your collaborators will know what to once they arrive.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-257\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/edtechuvic.ca\/edci336\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/09\/GoogleDocsAnnonCollab_01.png?resize=676%2C316&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"533\" height=\"250\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>2. Now click on that big blue Share button in the upper right corner.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-258\" src=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/edtechuvic.ca\/edci336\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/09\/GoogleDocsAnnonCollab_02.png?resize=384%2C182&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"384\" height=\"182\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>3. The sharing options are limited by default. In order to share via a URL, use the \u2018Get shareable link\u2019 button in the upper right corner.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-259\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/edtechuvic.ca\/edci336\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/09\/GoogleDocsAnnonCollab_03.png?resize=521%2C248&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"521\" height=\"248\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>4. Now you can set up the document settings, which only apply to the document you are currently working in. Selecting \u2018Anyone with the link can edit\u2019 will enable you to provide access via the URL.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-260\" src=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/edtechuvic.ca\/edci336\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/09\/GoogleDocsAnnonCollab_04.png?resize=676%2C497&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"676\" height=\"497\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>5. Once you have selected \u2018Anyone with the link can edit\u2019, you can copy the link and provide it to those you want to collaborate with. Once this is set up you can also simply use the document URL. You can use the <a href=\"https:\/\/bitly.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">bitly.com\u00a0<\/a>service which allows you to shorten the URL, making it easier for your participants to navigate to the document quickly or &#8220;shorten the URL&#8221; which is available on some Google Apps.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-261\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/edtechuvic.ca\/edci336\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/09\/GoogleDocsAnnonCollab_05.png?resize=529%2C401&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"529\" height=\"401\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>6. As your collaborators arrive in the document, they will be assigned an animal avatar.
