Calendar Description
Examines various forms of distributed and open learning and related topics including its history and evolution. Explores the intersection of modality, pedagogy and access. Explores communities in online spaces and work with and across emerging forms of modality such as blended and multi-access learning. Introduces the concepts of open access licensing models, which have enabled open education, open research, and open data.
Textbook & Required Resources
No textbook purchase is required. Learners are required to access the course website regularly. Any required or recommended readings will be posted on the course website. This course will offer students an opportunity to explore technologies used in distributed and open learning and to think critically about their impact on education. By working on hands-on assignments, participants will be able to enhance their learning abilities as students and develop the necessary skills to develop materials and to teach in online environments.
