If you signal everything then you are effectively signalling nothing; in other words, signalling makes something more special than other things. It is very powerful when you signal the underlying message and less so when logistical factors are signalled (i.e. the order to reading a comic).<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Use the power of imagery<\/strong>. Images can cultivate an instant and emotional understanding. It can set the scene for your comic AND impart meaning. If the imagery is stagnant (i.e. majority of imagery used to set the scene of two people talking), then those are missed opportunities. Think outside the box of temporal\/spatial constraints.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The hook.<\/strong> What makes people want to stay and consume your media? This one is more open-ended: it can be a story, it can be beautiful graphics, it can be an interesting progression. Put some time into considering your target audience &#8211; what do they want? What keeps them engaged? It doesn\u2019t need to be perfect from an artistic perspective (I can read between the lines when grading) but the key focus should be on conveying the viewers\u2019 motivations and attention.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Succinctness!<\/strong> Too much text can be overwhelming to take in. Too little, and you may not get the point across. Often, we begin with too much text, then refine it by trimming away everything but what truly matters. Please share it in the Mattermost Helping &amp; Sharing Channel by Weds Oct 8 @ 11:59 PM PST. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-regular-font-size\">Your prototype is the first draft of your final project. You can share it as a web page, a document with clear project documentation, or a blog post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-regular-font-size\">The prototype is what you intend to test; in order to test your ideas, you need to communicate it with others. Do you want to test the content matter (hint: for delivering educational content, this is important!)? then a storyboard will work. If you want to test the video style, then a short video clip is needed. Outline the purpose of your prototype. So, the prototype can be a rough outline of your videos utilizing words and\/or images, it can be a larger storyboard, it can be a short video clip, or anything else you find helpful. In addition to gaining feedback, the development of the prototype should also be a beneficial step in creating your final video. It doesn\u2019t have to be perfect, the key is to clearly get your point across.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-regular-font-size\">Along with your prototype, please include your&nbsp;<strong>\u201cUnderstand\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>\u201cPlan\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;phases. These don\u2019t need to be perfect or complete; you\u2019ll have a chance to refine them later. The instructor will setup a private channel so only the reviewers, reviewee, and instructor can see the feedback. One of the best ways we can grow individually and as a team is through the process of feedback. Both offering and receiving peer feedback can be hard, scary, and emotional \u2013 please consider your words carefully for constructive and actionable comments.
