{"id":6057,"date":"2026-03-30T13:19:02","date_gmt":"2026-03-30T20:19:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/edtechuvic.ca\/edci336\/2026\/03\/30\/free-inquiry-7-3\/"},"modified":"2026-03-30T13:19:02","modified_gmt":"2026-03-30T20:19:02","slug":"free-inquiry-7-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/edtechuvic.ca\/edci336\/2026\/03\/30\/free-inquiry-7-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Free Inquiry #7"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I had a meeting with faculty at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tcs-experimental.tw\/\">the school I will be teaching at<\/a> today and was able to learn a few things.<\/p>\n<p>First the principal of the school delivered an impromptu mini lecture about the importance of classroom management. His advice was to establish consistent routines in the classroom. He recommended starting my first few lessons with rapport-centred lessons so that I can establish strong relationships in the classroom before shifting to more content-focused material.<\/p>\n<p>I also learned that most classes in the school have 20-25 students. However, some english classes have as few as 16-18. I think that this will be a good way for me to ease into learning to manage a classroom, as I will likely have larger classes when I return to BC.<\/p>\n<p>I also learned that the middle school (grade 7-9) is a bridging school- it helps to prepare students from different background for grade 10 (high school). There will be a few different levels of English at the school.
