{"id":6050,"date":"2026-03-26T13:21:18","date_gmt":"2026-03-26T20:21:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/edtechuvic.ca\/edci336\/2026\/03\/26\/free-inquiry-blog-7\/"},"modified":"2026-03-26T13:21:18","modified_gmt":"2026-03-26T20:21:18","slug":"free-inquiry-blog-7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/edtechuvic.ca\/edci336\/2026\/03\/26\/free-inquiry-blog-7\/","title":{"rendered":"Free Inquiry Blog #7"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Japanese Curriculum!<\/p>\n<p>In Japan grade 7 marks the first year of junior high school. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mext.go.jp\/en\/policy\/education\/elsec\/1373870.html\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.mext.go.jp\/en\/policy\/education\/elsec\/1373870.html\">Japan\u2019s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Technology <\/a> (MEXT) regulates the Japanese curriculum and is responsible for implementing the \u201cNational Curriculum Standards\u201d across the country.  <\/p>\n<p>The national curriculum standards are similar to the BC curriculum as they work to improve students critical thinking and collaborative learning. Their motto is \u201ccreating a society in which people of all ages, from children to adults, can learn and apply their newfound skills anywhere, anytime.\u201d I believe this aligns with BC\u2019s Ministry of Education\u2019s goal to grow student\u2019s critical thinking skills in an ever growing world in which endless knowledge is at our fingertips. (<a href=\"https:\/\/curriculum.gov.bc.ca\/curriculum\/overview\">https:\/\/curriculum.gov.bc.ca\/curriculum\/overview<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>I will be teaching at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.doublediploma.com\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.doublediploma.com\/\">Bunka Suginami Canadian International School<\/a>. The school is a double diploma school meaning that all students enrolled in the Canadian program will complete all of the BC high school curriculum and the MEXT Japanese high school curriculum. This is a huge task for the students. They attend the Japanese school 6 days a week and the Canadian school 5 days a week. From Monday to Friday the students spend half the day at each school.
