The idea of organizing multiple units cross curricular, breaking them all down into individual lesson plans with enough diversity so a variety of learners can learn from them is extremely overwhelming. Considering Understanding by Design and the ADDIE model helps make this process slightly more palatable. Through starting the planning phase with a grand overview of the intended outcome, then slowly zooming in and developing the individual aspects, an educator can create a more robust learning experience for all.

Understanding the UbD Framework for K-12 Education by EKYA PDI

I foresee using technology to improve portions of the development process. For example, GenAI platforms like NotebookLM or MagicSchool are able to analyze uploaded documents and slide decks and create comprehensive rubrics and other assessment tools (among other things). Also, there are many sites that have games and activities that students can play while reinforcing their learning (PBS Kids, Cool Math Games). The more research I do, the more online sources I find that can aid the teaching experience. BCHydro, Science World, NASA, and many more all have activities, lessons, and resources I could use. If needed, GenAI could also help me navigate the abundance and narrow down to the BC curriculum. Overall, there are many ways to incorporate tech into a practice, but using the foundational aspects of the ADDIE model and UbD will help in keeping the process functional.

Personally, one of the most intimidating aspects of teaching is the planning and preparation of executing the curriculum.
